Founded on

Areterra was founded by Robert Kilburn — Bob — after more than 40 years supporting adults with disabilities across Worcestershire.
Having seen the impact of isolation and limited community access, Bob identified a gap in stimulating, animal-focused day opportunities.
Our staff are DBS checked, qualified support workers.

From an idea to a community built around people, animals and nature.
Areterra opens
Pathways, refurbished outbuildings, aviaries, a small animal hotel and raised growing beds helped bring the site to life.
Registered charity
Registered on 19 October 2021 with the Charity Commission for England and Wales: No. 1196211.
A growing animal family
Guinea pigs, degus, chinchillas, rabbits and chickens joined Ricco and Pilot, expanding our animal sessions.
National Lottery funding
Two National Lottery Community Fund grants totalling £30,000 supported our facilities, animals and sessions.
Nature & wellbeing
Caring for animals, gardening, conservation work and time outdoors are part of Areterra’s approach to reducing isolation, encouraging physical activity and supporting mental and emotional wellbeing.
